Can Kahler Tremolo Systems be attached as opposed to installed?

Been looking for a tremolo system for my Greg Bennet Ultramatic. It has a set-up like a Les Paul. Anyway, I found one by Kahler, but I don't know if I have to get someone to carve room for it like a Floyd Rose, or if I just replace the existing system with it. Also, does it work more like a Floyd Rose or a Stratocaster tremolo?
