Can i really trust aluminum screens to protect against EMP?

i really want to protect my hard drive and my computer from the electromagnetic radiation that might come in 2013 just to be on the safe side ... can anyone tell me if a faraday cage made from aluminum screening could protect my stuff against an emp and if it could then would it protect and emp as strong as the one that might occur in 2013
