Opinions on whether i should do college rotc or not...?

ok well i am 18 years old in tx & i have applied to a univ., HBU & i also applied for an Army ROTC scholarship, i was originally VERY excited about the whole ROTC thing, i was very much looking forward to it, they were going to pay for my full tuition and books && the whole deal, it was awesome, then a couple of weeks ago i emailed them about my scholarship and they told me that it would not cover for HBU (the only school i applied for btw) that it would only cover for U of H. && well i never applied to attend U of H, so i was like what!??! =[ so after that, i got really depressed && i really started to rethink the whole deal, i was kind of happy in a way bc well if you get an rotc scholarship you have to serve in the military active for 8 yrs, & well without the scholarship i wouldnt have to do that, but since i can't afford the amount for HBU, (12,000 for my first semester) i now have to go to community college, a couple of days after the news, the instructor called me and told me
